Lord help us all, Sarah Palin is the VP pick--UPDATE

UPDATE: It's official.

For all of those who need more information about Sarah and her scandals, I have written extensively on the issue. The link to those posts is HERE.

I will be doing a lot more writing on all of this but that reading should tide you over as well as the linked posts to Andrew Halcro's blog...the blog that broke a lot of these stories. Bear with me...I didn't get back from Invesco Field last night (due to transportation mismanagement, which I'll discuss later) until quite late and it's only 10:00 am Denver time (8:00 AM Alaska time). I still haven't posted on the Obama speech, which I think is rather important and I refuse to be completely sidetracked by this Republican media grab.

She's under investigation.

Her Lt. Gov is in the political fight of his life.

She said she wouldn't leave Alaska.

Selfish much?

McCain, even though he previously only had a snowball's chance in hell of winning, just lost.

It may all come out soon enough, but all you Alaskan bloggers could help us bloggers in the lower 48 by doing some detailed writing about Pallin, the investigations, suggestions of corruption, etc.

Don't merely assume this torpedoes McCain. That's what they said in '68 when Nixon picked an obscure first term governor whose sole claim to fame was he had been a freakin' county administrator. The rest is history. It took five years before Agnew was outed for the crook he was ... the first V-P in history to "resign" to avoid a jail sentence.

Give Diva girl a break, John B..she's down a the convention (a grueling schedule - I gave up and flew home on Tuesday evening)...I'm sure she'll fill us in.

Diva,
First: This is historic. She is the second female to run for office since 1984.

Second: I worked the polls when Sarah was elected. Dems voted for her, Independents voted for her, and non-voters voted for her.

Third: Both hubby & I worked on her campaign. Last night we were Obama supporters. Now? We are going to have to REALLY decide. This is going to be very tough for us.

Fourth: Don't underestimate her or dismiss her because of whatever. That would be a mistake and not persuasive for undecideds.

Hey, RCM...

I know that the Pro Life folks worked very hard on her campaign...my bro in law did as well.

However, don't lose sight of the issues here because our dazzling Gov. has stepped into the fray.

John McCain proved through the Georgia incident that he will be quick to commit our troops to another war whether we have the troops to spare or not.

John McCain has voted with Bush 90% of the time.

The Republican Party has now yanked drilling in ANWR off the Platform, yet Sarah Palin, the champion of drilling in ANWR is now on the ticket. How much do you really think she's going to have a say in a McCain Administration?

If you honestly look at the Palin Administration...she had nothing to do with "reforming Alaska" other than expose Randy Ruedrich. All of the other "corruption" was attributable to Ray Metalfe and the FBI.

Thanx for the info on Palin. Pleas blog her as much as possible. As another reader so aptly stated, most of the rest of us are basically unaware of her activities.

Thanx again

Great information you've got about Miss Congeniality. I hope you'll have more to share over the next 70 some odd days before the election.

Best,

While her best asset is her beauty, she is not presidential material. (Let's not forget that McCain is 75 and has had cancer)
Can anyone tell me where she went to college and graduate school?
I know about the hockey mom and the huntress....but what in the heck was McCain thinking. So glad I changed my party to Democrat. McCain needs to take a drive to the bridge to nowhere because that is where these two are going.

This just proves it for me (and I only speak for me).

I don't know how else to put it, but McCain seems concerned about something Obama's doing, but this isn't passing my sniff test.

The announcement is well timed to steal Obama's thunder, and she seems like the anti-Biden, down to having a child serving.

Admittedly, I'm not up on my Alaskan politics(I've not heard of her before today), but it sure seems like a longshot attempt to woo independent-minded folk, or ease the mind of (moderate??) conservatives.

I can't lie, though. It sure makes these "interesting times" as the saying goes.

Even more Hillary supporters will go for McCain now. Obama is no longer a near certainty.

Heaven forbid something happens to McCain, but I believe Palin would rise to the occasion. She has the right attitude. Everyone knows Obama is NOT ready for POTUS, Palin is only for the VP. Look at Dan Quayle.

YEY SARAH PALIN! YEY John McCain! Great pick! The 1st woman for the GOP VP? SCORE!

She's conservative! SCORE! She's a Governor! SCORE! She's pro-drilling! She's a hunter! SCORE! She played hockey in school! SCORE! She's pro-life! And she respects women! SCORE! She fights corruption! SCORE! She's high-energy! SCORE! She's tough! SCORE! She's got 5 kids! SCORE! Her son is going to Iraq in the Armed Forces! SCORE! She's married to a Blue-collar professional! SCORE! She's smart! SCORE! She's young! SCORE!

And she's a Hotty to boot! SCORE! The Left is going to go nuts! SCORE!

Point of interest: She played basketball in school, not hockey. So did Obama. Does he also get a "SCORE!" for that?

Great. Her best asset is her beauty? What a load of misogynistic crap. I don't agree with her social conservatism at all. But please...

John McCain's pick is truly disturbing. He only met her once 6 months ago and only spoke to her once on the phone and he picked her. It's obvious he wanted a woman to fill the VP slot but are there no other women qualified in the Republican party?

No disrespect to Alaska, but the state's budget is probably smaller than the city of Orlando Florida.

God forbid you are a woman and get raped and get pregnant because Palin would require you to carry the rapist's sperm for 9 months.

I think McCain has really gone over the deep end and the American people might have to pay for it.
